  A Favorite Ostrander Recipe  

STRAWBERRY-APPLE BAKED FRENCH TOAST

  • ¾ CUP STRAWBERRY JAM
  • ½ CUP PACKED BROWN SUGAR
  • 1/3 CUP BUTTER
  • 2 MEDIUM TART APPLES-PEELED AND SLICED
  • FRENCH BREAD CUT IN ¾ SLICES
  • 5 EGGS
  • 1 ½ CUP MILK
  • 1 TEASPOON VANILLA

SPRAY 9X13 WITH COOKING SPRAY. COMBINE JAM, SUGAR AND BUTTER IN SAUCEPAN AND COOK OVER MEDIUM HEAT FOR 4 MIN. OR UNTIL THE BUTTER IS MELTED AND MIXTURE IS WELL BLENDED. POUR INTO PAN TO COVER BOTTOM. TOP WITH APPLE SLICES AND COVER WITH BREAD. BEAT EGGS, MILK AND VANILLA TILL WELL BLENDED AND POUR OVER BREAD. COVER AND REFRIGERATE OVERNIGHT. BAKE AT 350 FOR 30-40 MINUTES. SPRINKLE WITH POWDER SUGAR AND GARNISH WITH FRESH STRAWBERRIES.
